Creator Guidelines

These guidelines help artists succeed on CanvasGuru by keeping listings authentic, prices transparent, and collectors confident.

Eligibility

Anyone creating original visual work, including painting, digital art, photography, illustration, or mixed media, can apply. All works must be your own or have clear rights to publish and sell.

  • Use your real name or professional alias.
  • Provide accurate work descriptions and media details.
  • Keep ownership clear and unambiguous.

Quality and presentation

Upload sharp, well lit images on neutral backgrounds. Each listing should represent a single artwork unless it is an edition or series with explicit quantity.

  • Use images at least 1200px on the long side.
  • Include multiple angles when possible.
  • Ensure the file accurately reflects the physical or digital work.

How to publish

1. Upload your work

Submit title, media, dimensions, and price. Choose edition type if relevant.

2. Review and verify

Our automated system and curators verify clarity, originality, and completeness before approval.

3. Receive payment

Once sold, you get paid as soon as the order ships. Certificates issue automatically to both sides.

Do and Don't

Do

  • Be transparent about edition numbers and media types.
  • Price realistically based on size, material, and demand.
  • Use certificates to track ownership and provenance.
  • Respond promptly to collector questions.

Don't

  • List work you did not create or do not have rights to.
  • Inflate edition counts or misrepresent materials.
  • Use watermarked or AI generated placeholder images.
  • Ship damaged or substituted items.

Payouts and fees

Creators keep 90% of each sale after standard transaction fees. Payments are processed securely and released once the work ships. View payout details anytime in your Payouts dashboard.

  • Payouts are available via major payment platforms.
  • Withdraw instantly once verified.
  • Transaction and network fees are visible before confirming any sale.

Certificates and authenticity

Every completed sale generates a digital certificate that includes:

  • Work details (title, year, dimensions, medium)
  • Creator signature or verification
  • Transaction record and owner ID
  • Permanent share link for provenance tracking

Certificates cannot be deleted or altered after issue. This ensures trust and transparency for collectors.
